During your first appointment, Dr. Rosanel will ask you about your medical history and symptoms. She will:

  • Review risk factors
  • Complete a physical exam
  • Review all cardiac care and prevention if needed
  • Do an EKG if needed
  • Check Blood Pressure
  • Check Heart Rate
  • Check Oxygen Saturation

If needed, more testing will be ordered such as:

  • 2-4 weeks cardiac event monitor
  • Blood Work
  • CTA Coronaries
  • Stress Test
  • Echocardiogram


You should see a cardiologist if you have any symptoms of heart disease, such as:

  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Palpitations (feeling like your heart is racing or skipping beats)
  • Lightheadedness or dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Swelling in your feet or ankles


You should also see a cardiologist if you have any of the following risk factors for heart disease:

  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Diabetes
  • Smoking
  • Obesity
  • Family history of heart disease


Treatments for heart disease vary depending on the type and severity of the condition. Some common treatments include:

  • Medications: Medications can be used to lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels. They can also be used to prevent blood clots and treat arrhythmias.
  • Lifestyle changes: Lifestyle changes, such as quitting smoking, eating a healthy diet, and exercising regularly, can help to reduce your risk of heart disease and improve your symptoms.
  • Angioplasty and stenting: Angioplasty and stenting are minimally invasive procedures that can be used to open up blocked arteries.
  • Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG): CABG is a surgical procedure that creates a new pathway for blood to flow around a blocked artery.
  • Valve replacement surgery: Valve replacement surgery is a surgical procedure to repair or replace a damaged heart valve.


There are many things you can do to prevent heart disease, including:

  • Quit smoking
  • Eat a healthy diet
  • Exercise regularly
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Control your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels
  • Get regular checkups from your doctor
